From San Casciano dei Bagni to Radicofani
Pass through Celle sul Rigo to reach Radicofani, the ancient Medieval hamlet
of Ghino di Tacco. A visit to the recently restored Rocca from where you can take
in the beautiful view of the Val d'Orcia is a must. On leaving Radicofani you
should return to the hotel along the ancient Roman via Cassia, testimonial of
the splendours of the historical Mille Miglia race (approx. 40 km. Both ways).
From San Casciano dei Bagni to Pienza
Take the direction towards Celle sul Rigo and Sarteano, drive along the panoramic
route which passes Monte Cetona. After Sarteano proceed for Chianciano and località
La Foce. From here you will begin an unforgettable experience along the enchanting
road bordered by cypress trees which many Italian and foreign film makers have
used along the years to represent the most authentic Tuscan countryside. The Volvo
gives you a splendid panoramic view from the crest which unwinds between the Val
d'Orcia and the Val di Chiana. Not to be missed, a stop in the delightful Medieval
city of Pienza, where you can taste the famous pecorino cheese with a good glass
of Brunello wine (approx. 120 km. Both ways).
From San Casciano dei Bagni to Cetona
Food lovers must visit Cetona, ancient hamlet where the first settlers arrived
about 40.000 years ago. After visiting the suggestive archeological park of Belvedere,
we suggest you stop for lunch or dinner at the Frateria di Padre Eligio, an ancient
convent founded by St. Francis in 1212 and now an exclusive restaurant with a
Michelin star (approx. 32 km both ways).
