Set in the Val d'Orcia in the southern-most tip of Tuscany and close to the ancient
hill town of San Casciano dei Bagni, Fonteverde is situated in one of the most
beautiful parts of Tuscany.
Recommended sites to visits include Radicofani, passing through the ancient medieval
hamlet of Ghino di Tacco, Rocca with its beautiful views and on the way back,
the ancient Roman via Cassia, testimonial to the splendours of the historical
Mille Miglia race.
Another beautiful spot is Pienza where one drives along the panoramic route passing
Monte Cetona. On the way to Chianciano, the drive is along an enchanting road
bordered by cypress trees where many Italian and foreign filmmakers have filmed.
A splendid panoramic view is possible from the crest, which unwinds between the
Val d'Orcia and the Val di Chiana. Stop in the delightful medieval city of Pienza,
where you can taste the famous pecorino cheese with a glass of Brunello wine.
Food lovers must visit Cetona, an ancient hamlet where the first settlers arrived
about 40,000 years ago. |
